I've been taking Xanax and Valium now in moderate doses for
recreational purposes (and sometimes medical). However, I've noticed my
sex-drive has dropped down to virtually nil. I have a stunning
gorgeous and would jump her a minimum of 3 days or so, but now I don't
feel the slightest urge.

I can still adore her perfect ass etc, but from there to sex seems like to travelling to the moon.

Is this a common of Benzodiazepines? How long will it take after going
off them before my normal sexual appetites return? Anyone know?

thanx, z.

unfortunately, yes. 2 weeks clear should see you having more appreciation for the human mating ritual.

unless you are addicted to benzos, very easy to slip into, to paraphrase an old saying, quit while you still can get head...Edited by: nanobrain

Switch to GHB, you'll get a better experience and you likely won't be able to stop jumping herhttp://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif.

It's all relative. Not necessarily too common, but common enough. SWIM used to have quite a habit with some rather large doses of various benzo's on a daily to semi-daily basis. He/she never had a problem with getting aroused sexually, stamina, or with being able to orgasm. It all depends from person to person and their personal physiology.

It could take from a week to a month or more to regain one's "normal sexual appetite" anfter quitting benzo's. Normally on thelower side. Just be warned. If you have a habit and a tolerance to taking benzo's. Don't quit cold turkey. This can kill you. Do some research about how to titrate your dose down moderately to nothing. Withdrawal from benzodiazepines can be worse then opiate withdrawal.Edited by: BlueMystic

Swim is very new to benzos, a few nights ago he took roughly 2mg of Klonopin to have a nice relaxed night. Things lead to private quarters with a female and swim had some difficulty getting it up and once it was up difficulty finishing. Swim likes the benzo feeling but is hoping it won't cause malfunctions in the genital region. Swim has never really had a problem with downers causing problems, for example alcohol usually will delay the climax but not effect whether or not he can get it up.

So swim wants to know if that is a common side effect of benzos, and if it is through regular use would that deflating effect tend to disepate, or would it more likely be there when ever a benzo is consumed?

Perhaps take the benzos later?

Swim only has access to Klonopin which the effects of which last 12+ hours. Intercourse as far as swim is concerned occurs too spontaneously to set aside a 12 hour window of no sex.

What swim is mainly asking is whether or not he will adjust and the deflation effect will minimize over time or if it is more likely to remain constant with repeated use.

Some people get this effect from benzos and some people dont. SWIM has no trouble getting hard on benzos but he does have a difficult time finishing.

This effect might go away with repeated use but only time will tell. Benzos are often prescribed to people with anxiety so SWIM thinks that this effect will probably be temporary. After all, not being able to get a hard on would just make SWIM more anxious.

If SWIM is taking benzo's recreationally he doesn't usually want to have sex or do much of anything. When SWIM combines Benzo's, like Alprazolam, and Alcohol (DO NOT DO THIS IT IS DANGEROUS) it is on and SWIM has no problems performing.

SWIM has no interest in anything except video games and food when he is using Benzo's recreationally.

benzo's can majorly affect sexual parformance. with long term use it can lead to decreased sex drive for both guys and girls. at least girls can just lay and fake it (lol) but basicaly it gets to the point you just no longer think about sexual relationships though you probably could still get it up or in the mood if you realy tryed but with increased problems the more benzo's you take and the longer the period you take them for. nearly every safty leaflet swim has got with there perscription benzo's over the yrs has warned of decreased labedo and sexual functioning.
this is not permant though and will subside after use once your body has cleard them out your system you will then probably then go threw a stage for a few weeks where sex is on your mind 24/7 and you find your self getting aroused at the slightest thought or feeling. people should be carefull during this time as to not get into sexual incounters they may later regreat.

Interesting points adz: From a female point of view there are two main aspects to "Benzo sex".

First of all the disinhibited amnesia (quickly followed by "Oh My God! I did what?") sex and then the emotionally/sexually numb variety.

Neither is good for the soul
