Here are some statistics from my corner of the World. They are compiled from three sources:a monographic study from 2002,a report of the local Health Ministry from 2004 and a recent journal article.

Out of 2.200.000 citizens, those who are 18 and older:

-Tasted benzodiazepines: 87%
-Used benzodiazepines in 2003: 73%
-Used benzodiazepines more than ten times a year(2003):60%
-Used benzodiazepines on a regular basis (more than 3 times a week):16%
-Took benzodiazepines with alcohol: 1.7%

a)To ease anxiety..................19%
b)For psychosomatic headaches.......5%
c)To "get stoned"..................22%
d)Against stress...................14%
f)Against insomnia.................21%
g)Polydrug use......................2%
h)As a sedative.....................5%
d)Other............................12%

Only 9% of all users have a prescription.

Most used benzodiazepines:

1)Bromazepam (I'm not making the followingup:together with few other drugs like aspirine and "Caffetine" (Caffeine + codeine),Bromazepam is sold by newsstands, not only by pharmacies)
2)Diazepam
3)Lorazepam
4)Alprazolam

Comming to a conclusion that I live in a "benzoid" society is Orwellianesque but true............

Cheers,

yeah this sounds very familiar, swim used to live in a geographically very close country, and in the past in the same one you did...they listed benzos as subscription drugs in 2002 or something like that, cant remember.

Swim sure does miss the times when he could just walk into a pharmacy and buy a few boxes of diazepam......oh well.

whats the situationwithdrugs like artan and trodon(tramadol)? Can you still get them otc?

Dober vecher,Daeron

I do not know about Artan but buying Tramadolrequires a licence in some pharmacies, those who are still part of the state economy............private pharmacies are glad to sell everything money can buy.I guess this applies to Tramadol as well.....

What's the situation in Slovenia,is there any channel through which one may obtain benzoes?

Cheers

Igor
