View Full Version : Side effects - Amnesia From Alprazolam?
Just got my hands on a bunch of alprazolam 1mg tablets. Researched a little and decided to take 1mg just to try it out and be safe. Took it and felt very mild to little effects. Not much of anything, a slight drunk feeling, nothing special. Next day decided to take 3mg instead. Take all three at once and sit down with my sister watching a movie waiting for them to kick in. Next thing I know i was up tomorrow morning in bed. Flipping out having no idea what happened and being a little upset I wussed out on my trip experiment, I asked my sister what happened. She said during the movie she looked over at me and saw me sleeping with doritos half eaten out of my mouth and when she woke me up i was talkin all slow and drugged up making absolutley no sense. I walked around like a zombie in the kitchen, put the doritos in the fridge, looked around in the pantry and closed the door which I never do. She said I ended up going to sleep in my bed but I dont remember any part of it. I even undressed myself. Last thing I remember was eating doritos. Im only 115lbs, but didnt think 3 mg's would do that to me after trying 1mg. Any insight? I know xanax is a sedative but wtf happened? Little upset cause I have a bunch of these and was looking forward to havin some fun...
Xanax typically has that amnesiac-like effect on people. I had 3.5 mg friday night and I honestly don't remember a thing from friday night until this morning (Sunday). I didn't even know why I had left-over lasagna in my fridge until someone told me I had it for dinner last night.
I haven't quite found a way to bypass that xanax amnesia, yet, but perhaps wait awhile (over a week) and try 2mg. Doing 1mg one night than 3mg the next isn't really advised if you have no tolerance. I'm not sure but it could be from that 2-day in a row thing that increased memory loss without giving any more xanax-like feeling. That's what happens to me, anyway. Just be careful, tolerance builds VERY fast, if you do a search, you'll see what I mean.

Classic.
SWIMoften times has trouble recalling a night full of xanax. I'm not sure of any ways to get around this other than take a lower dose.
Stay away from alcohol and other CNS depressants is about the only thing I can think of to help you.OR maybethere's some nootropic out there that might be able to help you.
Best of luck to you.

This happens to a lot of people, especially when combined with alcohol. Dunno what the facts and statistics say, but SWIM and the people he has done benzos with have all experienced the same thing. Almost all the trouble SWIM has gotten himself into has been related to benzos, often combined with a small amount of alcohol. As SWIY said, just waking up thinking: Damn, what happened? Anything could have happened, so be extremely careful.
Benzodiazepines can cause anterograde amnesia (the brain doesn't form new memories for a period of time).

Its not uncommon to have 18 hour periods un accounted for, followed by another 18 hours of uninterupted sleep. Just something you have to dea lwith when using xanax
