This drug is a joke. I have incredibly bad sleeping problems and the Dr said this stuff always does the trick...well I just want to say if you want really really bad headaches that make your brain feel like its falling apart inside then go right ahead and take it. Oh yeah, this pill has never had any effect on my insomnia. Any other downers that I should ask my Dr about? Thanks so much
shaunnelson
You're exhibiting frustration over your doctor making the
generalization that Ambien will always do the trick, so please don't
make the same mistake by generalizing that Ambien will never do the
trick and dissuading others from using it.
Benzodiazepines!
If Xanax or Valium doesn't get you to sleep, nothing will. But, benzos
are also addictive, so your doc will need to taper you off slowly when
you're done using them (if your doc has experience with benzos, and you
have the self control to only use them for their prescribed purposes,
this shouldn't be too much of an issue). I would resist the urge to
seek benzos outside of a good doctor/patient relationship (ordering
them online from pharmacies), as this could be more likely to lead into
a cycle of addiction.
I used to have the worste insomnia you could imagine. I was perscribed
ambien, oh what little knowledge I had of this drug. First night I was
on my computer this stuffed monkey I have started rubbing his hands
together and grinning his teeth at me, and from then on out he became
my everynight trip buddy. I named him Garth. Here he is:
http://www.subver.com/photos/sm_DSC00590.jpg
haha anyway. I tripped REALLY fucking hard everynight for a month. You
remember very little. I have vague memories with garth wrapped around
my neck walking throughout my neighborthood. I talked to a 2-headed
plant person in my house sometimes. My friends would tell me I would
call them saying very strange things. I guess I was telling my best
friend that we were both waiting in line to get on a rollercoaster as
we spoke, like we were really there. Sometimes I would get short
dream/trances where I would be in a deep vivid dream, but also
semi-aware of my surroundings. Very hard to explain. I remember all of
a sudden I was on a pirate ship throwing spears over a wall. I dunno,
it rocked, though. Nothing but good trips. Man.... everynight... I miss
it so much.
It once got to the point where I could control my hallucinations,
literally. Then it just stopped working as good. I could go on and on
about this drug, I LOVE it.

hahahahahaha Nhansen, sounds like your exp rocked! do you remember how many mg's of it you were taking each night?
10mg, which I belive is the highest.
You have no idea. Every night was like an Alice in Wonderland experience. It was amazing.
Best drug experience of my life, and I've experimented with quite the
hefty sack of drugs. Plus it's legal and I was perscribed it. It was
too good to be true, damn you tolerance. Oh well, for a month I was in
a demented childrens story book or something.
This drug is a joke. I have incredibly bad

Try Zopiclon, 7.5 mg.
Way more fun and a better sleeping pill then Ambien in my opinion, ..
At least for me...
sweet sassy molassy, SWIM just got ahold of a bunch of ambien. Prepare yourself, Garth. It's trip time.

Ambein worked well for me. Kinda nice havin a little trip every
night. I did 30mg once, and let me say that it was insaine, i
thought i was in a carnival while sitting on my friends bed. My
friend said he got slapped by a monkey and screamed. Ill have to
post a full report when i get around to it.

Oh and that stuffed animal reminds me of one night when my sock turned into something like that and was moving around the floor.
I've been getting 10mg ambien pills (30 a month) for about a year now. They generally suck, except for occassional IV use. When I shoot about 20mg I get a wild dissociative-like rush followed by the normal ambien sleepiness. It's actually kind of amusing when I have nothing better to do. A couple times though I found myself having shot over 70mg in a couple hours, and each time I got horrible chills, I felt like I was in a freezer for several hours.
As for NHansen, I think you're either completely full of shit or you're a total pussy. Actually I think you're both. I don't know what kind of fag thinks he talks to two headed plant monsters on 10mg of ambien, or any dose for that matter. You remind me of one of those people that gets sold fake drugs and persists on saying they're fucked up.
I'm going to have to agree with moldie. NHansen, Ambien doesn't cause
you to "trip". I've never heard of anybody hallucinating to the extent
that you are claiming on Ambien. The only time I can see any
hallucinations possible is if you are just so used to taking it to get
to sleep, then suddenly you stop. Then I can see how somebody may get
scared, can't sleep, and then imagine seeing things. I mean think about
it, your so called experience just doesn't make sense. If people had
experiences like that on 10mg of Ambien then I'm guessing it would be a
Schedule I drug, not a legally prescribed medication. Why would doctors
prescribe something that would make you "trip" and "hallucinate" when
you are just trying to get to sleep? Save those stories for story-time,
not when somebody is trying to get real advice on the drug.
Edited by: club222
Ambien has always worked really well for me and I agree with club222 if ambien were really going to mess you up that much it would probably be a little more controlled but as far as i know its prescribed all the damn time.
hey man, I'm just telling you what happened. It just seems that my body
is very very sensitive to this drug. That was no tall tale, my friend.
Also. Yes, ambien has caused me to "trip." And trip very hard, in fact.
Please don't tell me what this drug can't do when I obviously
experienced a very intense TRIP every night from 10mg. Yes, it was
indeed Ambien, I was perscribed it for sleep by a doctor. You, moldie,
are the pussy. A very misinformed pussy.
And club222, any information is a good form of advice. This is not a
story-time story. This is a real story, which I HAVE EXPERIENCED every
night for a month. "The more you know..."
So next time don't shrug it off as some little story. It is true. There
have been reports of very wild hallucinations, why would you be so
stubborn as to just deny them all? This drug has the potential to make
you trip. Bottom line.
Every bit of information I have written down in this forum is TRUE. This
did indeed happen to me. Next time, don't jump to conclusions just
because YOU don't get anything out of a drug. They do different things
to different people, as any informed person would know. Obviously,
moldie, you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sorry if ambien
never got you "high". But this drug has had a very profound effect on
me, which is obviously not the normal effect on everyone else.
I just get real pissed off when people like you, moldie and club222,
get frustrated with a drug and claim its crap. You are both
misinformed and have a lack of education on this subject. Read up on the drug before
you post something totally stupid. But I guess that's too late, isn't it?
Also, your logic about me beoing "one of those people that gets sold
fake drugs and persists on saying they're fucked up" is completely
idiotic. I was perscribed this drug NOT KNOWING that it would do this
to me, only to find out, the first night (10mg) that it made me trip
very wonderfully, and hard.
Edited by: NHansen
there are plenty of reports on erwoid about peopel tripping on ambian.
i'v seen it with others as well. when you take it and you force yourself to stay awake you'll start tripping. my expeirence hasn't been too intense, but i've seen peopel have full on trips on ambian.
don't dismiss becuse you haven't heard of it.
I'm not a big fan of erowid's trip reports. I've read some of the most absurd things the world has to offer on that site. I look at this situation like this, I've seen people smoke "red rock opium" and swear to heaven that they are getting high off of it, and I've also read people on erowid saying the same shit. I think we can all agree that red rock opium is just incense.
In fact I just IV'd 20mg of ambien about 2 hours ago, and other than a brief dissociative feeling I'm just a little drowsy. I've been around countless people who have taken ambien and stayed awake for the duration and never once heard a claim of "im tripping." If anyone does claim they are tripping off their ambien they are not a credible source.
totally. the only credible sources are the ones in moldies favor.
sorry, but you don't sound very convincing in your refutation. not evrone reacts in the same way, but when hundreds of peopel report to have had an effect you little experiment says nothing. i've wittnessed it with5 people more than one time and a positive of5 plus all the reports out there including on this forum outweighs your dissmissiness.

The effects of drugs are extremely
subjective. Some people are extremely sensitive to certain chemicals,
and some people have little to no reaction certain chemicals. While
many reports are likely psychosomatic</span>, many
are legit. So don't just dismiss what people say just because it
differs from your experiences.
I've read some highly entertaining stories about people tripping on
Ambien, from a variety of sources. Most of them are not actual
"trips" per se, rather the person was in a half dream state and was
attempting (but failing miserably) to interact with the real
world. Funny shit.
Edit: back on topic, try taking 3mg of melatonin shortly before bed. Works like magic for my insomniac ass.
Edited by: psyki
ambien and a couple glasses of wine did me pretty good...went on a latenight walk with a friend and while I can't remember much of it, she told me it was pretty nuts.
psyki, I like your characterization of these claims of people tripping on ambien, I would concede my point if the people claiming to be tripping were in fact really just slipping in and out of conciousness.I deffinately would not call that tripping.
The stories I've read never even mentioned tripping, but I could see
how the entire experience could be "trippy". Most people seem to
have little or no memory of doing the weird things they do and have to
be told by others who saw them.
My favorite story was about this guy who for reasons not even his wife
could ascertain, thought it would be a good idea to bring a box of
cereal and a glass of milk to bed with him. Later he figured he
must have thought he could eat handfuls of cereal and drink the
milk. He woke up the next morning and the bed was covered in
cereal, I guess he wouldn't even let his wife take the box from him!
Moldie, in my opinion, is one example of the three drug advisors in this world.
1.) the kind that makes up idiotic facts and tells some curious person the total crap they just thought up. These are the worst kind I feel because they either do not realize, or do not care, that what they say the kid will most likely take to heart and try. So if they say you can trip off of crumbling up rat poison and snorting it (i have no idea if you can but that sounds very stupid and you would most likely die which is why i made it up) then the child will go home, take out the rat poison, crush it up on the floor. After ODing on it and blacking out the families pet dog will come by and eat the rat poison that is left over or rummage through the box. Then in all the hecticity of whats wrong with the kid no one will notice the poor creature.
2.) They try drugs but it doesnt work for them so they talk about how it is worthless and when a kid asks for advice they say "dont waste your time." This causes the kid to miss out on an opportunity to at least buzz. Which could also speed up the filtering through all other drugs and ending up on crack or meth.
3.) An honest and reliable person who supplies legit. information.
Moldie is a number 2.
I give moldie more credit than that, he's not quite a number 2 (haha). Maybe a little jaded but who isn't?
The bottom line is that Ambien isn't exactly the most recreational
benzo out there but some people get pretty messed up on it nonetheless.
http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
I don't think it makes you trip, just kind of alters your sense of reality, as does just being really tired from not sleeping. Once after I took an Ambien I was walking down the hallway to my room and it seemed like the hallway was just getting longer and it was taking me forever to get there. I'd imagine my body was just so down that I was moving slowly, my eyes and brainwere processing information slowly, and therefore I experienced something trippy.
Psyki, ambien is not a benzo.
as to tripping on it that takes a whole conversation as to what it means to be triping. but i can see how you can easily just dismiss it. sleep deprvation have cause many a person to trip and hallucinate.
Sorry, you're right, ambien is not a benzodiazepine. I believe it
does have a very similar chemical structure and mode of action, however.

Ambian does nothing for me but I have a couple of friends that take it
they say they trip on it, now I have been around them while they were
on it and I was sober and I can tell you for shure that they were very
fucked up. I dont know if they have as vivid hallucinations as Nhanson
said they said its more like things pulsing or sort of mellting.
I know it gets then high Ive seen it and there deffinatly not the kind
of people who just pretend to get high because we have tried other
things together with no effects. Anyway do I belive that certain people
can have somthing similar to a trip on ambian YES. Do I belive
everything I read NO. but diff drugs have diff effects on
everyone so I cant say that its imposible to "trip" on ambian I just
wish it would work fo me

i've tripped on ambian but only at high doses. 5-10 mg's will not do much except give you a head change unless your really sensative or combine it with alcohol. i've never seen anything that wasnt there just a disorted view of my surroundings. i was sitting in my chair when it started to sink or dip into the floor as if sink on a point. like taking some suran wrap and poking it with your finger. i got and walked towords the door. i was walking up the side of the dip. anyways i black out after a short while and woke up in my friends car puking out the window. everytime ive taking ambian ive puked and blacked out. noramlly i have a strong stomach. only ambian and methodone wafers seem to effect my stomach like that.
I have read some reports that ambien may be in fact a delirient hallucinnogen like datura and dramamine. If this is true it may act, in part, by effecting the action of actylcholine. If this is the case then it could cause vivid hallcination in at least some people. It would also be expected to cause sleep as well.
I would point out however that walking around the neighborhood on ambien is proabably not a good idea. Delirients make you just too damn crazy to be in public. Also a trip sitter really should be used with any delirients as well.
yeah, I couldn't really control what I did, I had ambien logic. I just
remember bits and peices. I wish I could remember everything, though.
I do somehow have a video of myself talking to someone (he was really
there). I sound pretty drunk or something. Fun times, though.
Ambien isn't as intense for me anymore, even after months of a break.
Oh well, I guess it was just one of those once in a lifetime things.

i tried ambien for the first time. I took 20 mg and I didn't feel anything weird.
I'm addicted to lorazepam so i tried ambien mostly to stop this bad habit.
moreover i didn't sleep well as with lorazepam. i had tremors, burst of heat all night long. I suppose that was more due to a sort of withdrawal symptoms from lorazepam.

SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT ACETYLCHOLINE WHICH IS WRONG.
Sorry, but acetylcholine has absolutley NOTHING to do with hallucinating. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter responsible for depolarizing the axon in a MOTOR neuron, therefore, you are saying that ambien is the inhibitory endorphin, not true
Ive only taken Ambien once, just made me fall asleep. However, my mom use to take it a few times a week to help her sleep and EVERY time she took it she would fall asleep for like 10 minutes then wake up and do all kinds of crazy shit and act all weird, and she wasnt sleep walking. My dad finally took them from her, heh. So just because it does nothing for one person doesnt mean it wont for someone else.

I think your going to find that when it comes to sleep pills any drug in general, everyone's body is going to react differently to the drug. It's impossible to find a sleep aid that will work for every single person. It's werid and has something to do with the how our bodies are made up. Ambien works for most people but it won't work for everybody, you just need to try something else. I can take unision to sleep at night, knocks me right out, but my friend can't, it acts as a stilulant and keeps him wide awake.
How about xyrem, I beleive this is GHB. I've taken ambien (never hallucinated) and couple other benzos but always felt kinda hungover or grogy the next day and tolerance developed quick. I never took GHB nut understand there is a dopamine bounce the next day or so after taking xyrem. all other info i've read about it is positive. I hear getting a script from a doctor ain't easy though. swim has an appointment this week and is going to ask. no harm in askin right?
This drug is a joke. I have incredibly bad sleeping problems and the Dr said this stuff always does the trick...well I just want to say if you want really really bad headaches that make your brain feel like its falling apart inside then go right ahead and take it. I have been perscribed ambean at 5mg and 10mg, sonata at 10-30mg, seraquil at 25-100mg, and trazadone at 10mg (not sure about the trazadone dose) and nothing has worked as well as ambean for sleep. well nothing has worked as well for sleep thats not a benzo. for me 10mg of ambean will start working in about 17 min if im on a full stomich. I have taken up to 30mg and i just completely pass out with no recelection of what happend. accually the one i took 30mg i woke up with back aches and a large bloody gash on my arm, DONT BE DUMB LIKE ME.

Sorry, but acetylcholine has absolutley NOTHING to do with hallucinating. Acetylcholine is the neurotransmitter responsible for depolarizing the axon in a MOTOR neuron, therefore, you are saying that ambien is the inhibitory endorphin, not true
Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in many functions of the nervous system, including motor functions. Drugs that inhibit the action of acetylcholine are often delirient hallucinogens when taken in sufficient dose. This is true of the tropanes as well as dramamine and it's relatives. As far as I know the hallucingenic effects of these drugs are believed to be caused by the inhibition of acetylcholine, though other neurotransmitter systems may be involved as well.

took .5mg of xanax waited 2 hous
snorted 5mg of ambien
smoked a bowl
took two 10mg ambien and .5mg kolonopin
smoked a bowl and a few cigs
took .5 under the tounge of clonopin
snorted 12.5 mg of klonopin
smoked a bowl
gonna take an ambie oraly adn then dissolve .5mg of klonopin while smoking a bow then short this other 12.5 mg line of Klonopin
Then its just weed tonbaco and under touge with cigambien as i feel i need it
now i super crazy f uckedv up
dude why don't you just drink a fifth of Jack Daniels it'll probably do the same thing as all that stuff -- knock you out and make you sick as shit, maybe even kill you.If youwake up and you'll still feel like crap.
here is my first ambien experience from last night.
the day before i did not sleep a wink, so i got up and went about my day.
later that day my doc prescribed me some ambien to help me sleep
because a recent surgery i've had it causing me pain and making sleep
diffcult.
i then slept from 4pm until 11pm. i woke up and watched tv, took some
lortab elixer. 75mg hydrocodone/500mg acetominophen. then i took one of
my 5mg ambiens.
i went to bed about 10 minutes after this.
at first i was noticing very faint CEV's, halos of light and such that
would take form into animals or objects. then something VERY
interesting occurred. i started to feel as if i was being dragged over
my sheets, floor, up the wall, then eventually down stairs, etc. i
could actually FEEL the friction of the sheets, carpetting and wall.
even minute details like the sheets rippling under my weight/movement
and folding up. it was so, so strange.
after like 4 minutes of this i slipped into an extremely vivid dream,
most of which i can't remember now. then i woke up from it. after a few
minutes the process repeated itself but i don't think i ever woke up
from the second dream i just slipped into normal sleep.
i woke up about 6.5 hours later feeling refreshed.
i've got 4 more of these, i hope they keep working.

ambien has caused some people to trip although its rare i do find that
if you take about 30 mg you will be totally fucked up i way only 120
lb's tho. i have never tripped while on ambien exept once i say a few
colored lines for 3 seconds. mostly it makes me gigle, forget, not
think straight at all, see everything blury and stumble a bit.
once i took a bunch and tried to make a maltove cocktail glad that didn't work.
some of my friends say it actually works better if you take LESS than the prescribed dose<!--

thats wierd that doesn't happen to me
i think taking 3 10mg pills crushing them i dont even remove the time
release coating from the pile out of fear of losing some ambien putting
it into some cold water and mixing and mashing it in there then down it
all at once i tried this for the first time today and i was much more
fucked up than i thought i would be. it was pretty fun.

Talked to some guy watering his lawn at like 7 in the AM and fell asleep for an hour on my front lawn, bad times
coming down was the worst thing ever, felt like i wanted to die for 4 days, don't f*** with ambien http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif

Ambien does not become lethal until some ridiculous dose (it was either
400 or 800mg). I looked into this myself once during some bad times.
Basically, not even an entire bottle of these things stands to be
fatal, from my own reading. Do not take this as an endorsement to take several hundred mg of ambien.</span> I mention it only to point out that taking 80mg is far from suicide.
When I first started taking ambien, the effects were strongest. I would
not call them hallucinations; more like visual distortions. I used to
sit and stare at text on my monitor because the words would ripple
slightly, or crawl. Over time, the dose required to achieve these sorts
of effects increased up to 30mg.
30 mg is a cutoff point for me. I weigh 175 lbs, and any time I take
30mg or more, I simply don't remember anything from about a half hour
later onward. Almost nothing. However, friends and family(!) have
experienced me in a very strange state during the time I can't
remember. I have been told I'm non-responsive (spaced out), and very
obviously confused. I talk nonsense. One time I told my parents</span>
a lengthy story about the adventure of cherry-pie man. There are a
wealth of similarly insane things I have reportedly done, and a handful
of slightly less insane ones. One night I slept with an otherwise
platonic friend, and I barely remember anything.
In short, ambien is actually a lot of fun until you hit your personal
threshhold, at which point you won't be able to remember the fun you
were having. I still miss the days before my tolerance developed.
I skipped a lot of the posts, because I just started reading this thread now from beginning.
But, I have had maaaany experiences on Ambien, all good for the most
part. Most of what the NHanson guy said, sorry if I spelled it wrong,
was probably true to an extent. I was prescribed Ambien about a month
ago because I was having sleeping problems due to one of my other
scripts. So, I was just reeeeally getting into pills at the time, so I
decided to have a few experiments with this new Ambien.. The first time
I did more than my prescribed 10mg, I took 3 of them, a total of 30mg
for those not too great at math. You get some pretty good trips on it
for real. I was out on my porch smoking a cigarette, and I ended up
talking to "people" for like 15 minutes before I realized that these
"people" were just shadows. You act really loopy when you're on it. Say
some really weird crazy shit. It's good if you want to be the life of a
party. I've proposed to friends on it. Thought I had twins with another
friend. Told some weird ass stories. It's great when you're on it, but
you remember pretty much nothing after you sleep. It's great to hear
the stories from other people about what you did when you were on it.
The most I've taken at this point is 50mg, which was fucking insane.
Everything goes insanely quick and everything just mixes together. Like
places you go and stuff. I've never hallucinated, but have tripped
pretty good. I'd definetly recommend Ambien, and I bet soon it's going
to become a pretty popular pill.
Sorry for the long post.

ambien helped with my insomnia, but it seems that if you miss the window of sleep (usually an hour after you take it), youre totally assed out. lunesta is good too. i prefer halcion, xanax or ativan for sleep usually though. halcion knocks me the hell out fast. its pretty insane...
Shit, last Wednesday Ambien totally fucked me over. I took 10mg and
snorted another 20mg. And a bad thing about Ambien is it makes you
really stupid. So, my friend told me to come over and to smoke with
him. So, I got my stash and took my dads truck to go over. Well, since
I was so fucked up, I got lost. And then a huge truck started driving
at me and I moved over, and ended up side swiping a car. So, I was
waiting for a cop to come, and was too fucking out of it to think to
get rid of the quarter of dank and the pipe in my pocket. So, I ended
up getting arrested, and now have to go to court and everything. I
didn't get a charge of narcotics for being on Ambien though, because my
parents showed them I had a prescription for it. But man, I highly
recommend having someone to watch you when you're on Ambien so you
don't do stupid shit like that. Be careful with this guys.

Hate to hear that happened menik. I too was arrested on ambien when
around 6 years ago. SWIM started taking 30mg's for fun and then
bottomed out at 50mg's and only got a slight euphoric feeling. Anyway,
one day SWIM decided to take 40 mg's before his day. Needless to say,
SWIM walked into the building and BOOM dreamstate. I don't remember
much, but I was sleepwalking. I was coherant though, oddly enough to
buy a pepsi and when walking to class I tripped over a plant and the
principal helped me up. Cops took me to the office and gave me a sob
test. It was fun at the time. Ended up going to alternative school for
an entire symester, and being on probation for 1 yr and a half. Ambien
is fun, addicting, and hell all at the same time. I still have some
ambien and haven't been propelled to use it since then ;)
