All the rest of this was originally posted by a friend of mine elsewhere. I thought I would share as it brings up some neat theoretical ideas that might interest people here. Enjoy!
so what if...
what if...
what if it's just a matter of living...until we get it right....
our DNA is as old as the universe itself...
what if maybe we fuck up this time...maybe the planet dies...maybe we cut down too many trees in the amazon and the earth gets lung cancer...maybe we blow each other up in a firy bang...or maybe, more appropriately, we just starve...we whimper...we die...
so we come away from that..our DNA stored with every memory, every emotion, every action we ever made...and we go with that somewhere else...and life starts all over again...
maybe it's just a matter of doing it until we get it right
and this, again, is why infinity excites me

I read your post, and I've thought some more about the whole Z-DNA thing. This is gonna be a stretch, but keep an open mind, cause I thought it's very weird...
Unlike B-DNA, which is the famous form Watson and Crick found in the 50's, Z-DNA constitutes a huge (majority, 80%) portion of the total DNA in chromosomes. Yet no one has REALLY found a function for it. It seems to be junk, an evolutionary holdover from previous evolved forms. (Which also kind of strikes me as genetic memory maybe?) Anyway, no one could really figure out what Z-DNA is for except this guy:
http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/tt/1995/a<WBR>ug16/40591.html (http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/tt/1995/aug16/40591.html)
They basically postulate that Z-DNA doesn't have any purpose other than to code for a protein that *SPEEDS UP TRANSMISSION OF NERVE SIGNALS IN THE BRAIN* but that it's rarely activated and read. I'm wondering if the ingestion of certain psychoactive substances, such as say, DMT, LSD, psilocybin, or maybe even religious activity such as meditation, fasting, etc. activates the enzymes that read the Z-DNA and build that protein that speeds up nerve signals, thereby "opening you up" or "attuning" you to higher levels of perception and consciousness. Maybe the metaphor of "meditation or spiritual practice accesses the ancestral memory" could actually mean that you are activating your Z-DNA which speeds up your brain...
So here are the structures for B and Z DNA from the SIDE:
http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/band<WBR>zdna.html (http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/bandzdna.html)
http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/abzdna.h<WBR>tml (http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/abzdna.html)
So Z-DNA looks kinda weird, so what? Ok, so assuming that mentally accessing genetic memory would be the sensation of going THROUGH the DNA (going down the string of DNA, since it is essentially a 2-dimensional way of encoding things), THIS is how it looks if you go DOWN the helix:
http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/abztopvi<WBR>ew.html (http://www.albany.edu/~achm110/abztopview.html)
Compare the B DNA pattern and Z DNA patterns, as they look if you looked down the axis of the DNA. Looks like a Yantra a bit, right? Now try superimposing the B and Z patterns and flipping back and forth - it looks like the membrane, or the tunnel does, when you are in a DMT trip (at least that's the kind of patterns I see). So maybe you are perceiving your own molecules, when you go through the trip, much like Jessica did when she drank the Water of Life in Dune.
Ok, so what strikes me as REALLY weird, is the similarity in fetal forms between creatures. A human fetus looks like a chicken fetus looks like a dog fetus, etc. But that's only REALLY early, in humans, that's probably before that 40 day mark, when the soul is supposed to enter the body, according to the Tibetan and Jewish traditions, and when the pineal gland activates, releasing DMT. Is it just me, or is it really strange that as you go REALLY early into the span of life of living things, you really go back in time to our evolutionary ancestors and their forms... Could it be possible that all life is one single wave of time (thanks, Terence =) ), which vibrates at different frequencies, and differentiates itself really early in the life of all things, at different intervals (40 days for humans), into different life spans and lives...
