Speed is bad mmkay, but just so SWIY knows woman have a tougher time with speed then men do. Men have a tougher time with alcohol, women have a tougher time with cigarettes. But SWIM thinks it highly dependent on personality, in other words why was he using (problems, fun, boredom, serious mental issues). Whatever the case one has to deal with underlying issues before one can deal with drugs. Explain to him that you love him and you feel that speed is a fast race to nowhere, and it will create a depleted dopamine receptors which will affect SWIY's boys mood. A good thing to do is stay busy, workout, create healthy styles of living so that one doesn't think about the bad style.

Firstly can you back up these claims: "Women have a tougher time with speed and cigarettes, men have a tougher time with alcohol."
Even if these statements were true, they would still only be a generalization and they do not address the OP's question which asks if it is normal for a man to be aggressive unstable and moody after quitting amphetamines and does it also happen to women.
And why would you suggest she talk to her husband about not using amphetamines when he has already quit?
......
Pansperson,
Firstly how long has your husband been clean of amphetamines?
Mood swings and aggression are common withdrawal symptoms in both men and women, though probably more pronounced in men due to testosterone. These symptoms often only last a week or two, but could last up to 2 years (Most studies seem to concur that it takes 2 years for moods to return to normal)
Aggression is more commonly associated with initial withdrawal symptoms, where as depression often lasts much longer due to a depletion in dopamine.

mood swings, depression, anxiety, paranoia etc etc are all 'common' effects that should dissipate over time...how much time, only time can tell/
Yes, mood swings, anger issues are common among users coming off speed. Swim is that way and over 2 and a half years since last use.....but it is getting better finally . Anti'd's can help with those issues if swiy can get a doc to prescribe
I am assuming after long term abstainance. Yes swim noticed that with her hubby. He is very aggitated easily where he used not to be. Swim yes while detoxing but not long term.

Base the drug SWIM is in recovery from.
Although weaker than meth, from the swathes SWIM has read, withdrawals have many commonalities, moods being one of them.
A valuable thing, which has come from within SWIM, who can empathise with moods of speed withdrawal, and general moodyness, is :
Firstly, supplements and good food, preferably no alcohol, a few days may be needed while the body is being replenished of what speed has robbed.
Secondly, for the person, while experiencing moody feelings, is to stay the f**k away from other people, as outbursts can cause reverberating pain in others. Even if this is just for the time while the supplements are kicking in, it can save alot of pain and heartache.
Lastly good luck with the recovery.

Mood swings, depression, and outbursts of anger are all common symptoms of amphetamine withdrawal. Recovery takes time, patience and vigilance.
Often the recovering addict is additionally stressed with social, legal, physical, and financial side-affects stemming from his or her addiction.
There is help out there ~ for the friends and family, as well as
the recovering addict. Don't be afraid to ask for it.

Tyrosine helps, as it replaces lost dopamine, responsible for bad moods - Is that correct?
I take 2grammes daily for a few days after, with other supplements, but noticed I got a tantrum which scared me about ten days after my last wrongun. (I am at risk of self harm, but help is near at hand luckily)
I dont want to take too much tyrosine, as I have had psychosis in the past, and I don't want to take too little, as my depression and self harm kick in.
Hoping the next question is helpful to all, and that the OP dosent mind the use of this thread to ask, but how much tyrosine for a happy medium?Talking half a gram at most of speed consumed in a sesh)
