what is it about drugs that makes them so cool?
sadly, to some even the puking man on the bathroom floor kicking his heroin habbit is "cool"... cool is not the best word for the topic but i think they're cool because they're illegal.

I like them because i prefer an atlered state of mind it wasn't "cool"
when I was in 8th grade and started smoking pot it wasnt"cool" when I
started using coke and it isnt "cool " that I like to experement with
leagall drugs or others now and you know what Kratom is one of the
"coolest" drugs Ive done and it is leagall so if your doing drugs
because there "cool" and illegal youre stupid why not steal a car thats
illegall to.

the question wasnt why do you do drugs... the question was if they are really cool... i was attempting to be vague as to get a variety of thoughtful input on the meaning of "cool" and maybe some insights in to theextreme tastes of drug users... apparently i have failed

yes, drugs are cool. but 'cool' is a subjective thing, its a matter of opinion. one person may think drugs are cool, and they arent wrong. another may think drugs are uncool. and they, too, are correct.
its like saying "do you like drugs?" you cant have any answer that is more correct than any other...

What make drugs cool is partly the whole badass theory that they are dangerous so that must mean you are dangerous if you take them. Also they are not available to all so there is the "What's the matter can't find/afford any......."(fill in the blank). "I got mine and you don't have shit" This eltist mentality is common among people who would call themselves cool. Then there is the glamorazation of drugs being fuled by the music/film industry partly to make sales, partly to reflect the condition of society, partly to keep the artists themselves under the crushing weight of addiction by having to live out the lifestyle that is expected of them,but mostly I think it is to fuel the underground drug market because the black market has theirfingers in many different pies and the music and film industry are just two of those pies.

I think the reason people think drugs are cool, is because they seem
like "badasses" and they think that they are really big party animals
or something. What i think is really cool is being yourself and doing
what you think is right and what you enjoy. I do drugs because it makes
me feel better about the world and gives me the feeling of contentness
inside. Plus, it helps me get to know my friends better.
Some of my friends dont even do some of the drugs they talk about. One
of my friends, who is new to our school, walks around saying stuff like
"Im gonna score a lot of LSD this weekend, then im gonna get some
shrooms from my dealer and smoke an half ounce of some dank ganja".
Knowing him, im pretty sure he doesnt do all that stuff, but just tries
to look cool. I have seen him smoke weed and he coughed his ass of in
the way that a "noobie" does and he didnt know what a shotgun was. This
is an example of someone who does it (or at least claims too) just to
be cool.
So to answer your question of what is it about drugs that makes them cool... i have 2 answers:
Why they actually are cool is because they let you explore your imagination and feel good at the same time.
Why people think they are cool is because they want to look like badass gangstas or some stupid shit like that.

drugs for the most part are "cool" if they have been allowed to settle
for a time at the immediate room temperature, given the temp is between
68-72 degrees Farenheit

Well said stingray, drugs are made 'cool' by the media and the fact that they are a mystery to so many people. In reality drugs are cool but only because they can make you see the world differently and you can notice things that you may have never seen before/ feel feelings you never had before. Doing drugs because people say they are cool is so uncool............

A lot of people are intrigued by drugs because they're
so mysterious. You can't get the feeling of being on a drug unless
you've actually been on it, so nobody really has a way of knowing what
these drug users are experiencing, and giving off a 'mysterious' or
'rebellious' vibe generally makes people think you're 'cool' because it
fascinates them and they try to live vicariously through you.
Then again, there's also the kids who look down on drug use, but I
think they have the same mindset as some religious freaks or some
racists. They fear the unknown or impossible.

I think drugs are "cool" because they take you to a place you could never normally experience (in most cases). A lot of drugs also enhance sex which of course is always going to be a very popular pastime :), so the combination of the two is quite "cool". There are many people that perceive drugs as anything but "cool", many people definitely look down on people that do drugs whatever the drug may be, which i believe is just an ignorant thing to do. If you are doing drugs to expand your mind then i do believe it is a "cool" thing to do and worthwhile but if you are just trying to escape reality then they definitely aren't.
used properly by responsible adults some mild drugs can be 'cool'.but i think its safe to say MOST drugs legalor illegal are very dangerous, can ruin ppls mental health, pyshical health, families split up,lose jobs,criminal record ect ect..,its set-up like that just to make you worrie about what your doing like blackmailing you if you keep taking 'drugs' your going to jail for the rest of you life .same old,same old Edited by: dr ACE

Well, from personal experience drug's can be kool if you use the right kind. LOL (personal opinion). Anyway's what im saying is, after a long hard day and you come home and you've got the world in your hand's so to speak and can't find shit to do, Why not stay at home and get fucked up? LOL but seriously, after i get depressed and shit i would definitally say marijuana is kool in my book. Think about this situation:
You come home, there's absolutley nothing on TV, everybody is expecting you to do everything, you start doing and doing and doing and then boom your depressed, pissed off, iritable. Then your wondering around like a chicken with it's head cut off, pissed slap the fuck off at the world, the phone ring's you answer it, Hello, hey what are you doing man, Then other person start's cussing. Get's ya pissed off and depressed again and then that's the perfect time when everyone should have blunt rolling skill's or personal preference skill's anyway's and get stoned outa there mind, Phone ring's again, hello, hey man then you bust out laughing everythng's gravy no more war, depression, anything like that, it's just gone, so drug's in my book can definiatlly be kool.
O yeah by the way, why don't you answer the same question using the following techique's.
1. acquire big bago marijuana
2. smoke a 4 gram blunt by yourself
3. make sure it's very potent.
4. sign on here and tell us if you think drug's are kool 30 minute's after smoking.

I dont think drugs are cool...just like I dont think drinking alot is cool either. I think being on drugs is cool and seeing things from a differentview is cool. But in my opinion drugs are generally do destructive to be "cool". In fact i beleive some drugs are down right evil(meth).

I think it's more a matter of abstinence being uncool. I mean, someone really cool (say, The Fonz) wouldn't be afraid of a little brain damage. Not doing drugs is wussy.
i dont think drugs are cool but they do give you a diffirent view of your surrondings i like to take them and always will but generaly ask myself why i did it afterwads when i feel like shit after a heavy weekend.
i think that if people didn't like drugs they wouldn't do them. it's notthat people do them to be cool, people do them because people enjoy them. people do things like buy rediculously expensive sunglasses to be cool.

No I don't think drugs are cool. I dont do drugs because they are cool, or because I think they will make me look cool, I do them because I want to. Drugs are absolutely amazaing, and can open up your mind like no other. Drugs are my tools to the unexplainable. I don't think cool is a very good word to use for drugs.
Drugs are cool because they allow me to go into different states of mind that I am not able to reach by other means ( I havenīt done much meditation). Drugs show me things that people not in drugs can not see/feel/think/imagine/suspect.
Drugs are like a hidden key to go places that were forbidden from us long time ago, before the begining of counsiousness. The one that finds the right key has evolved and he can trascend. Those places were forbiden, until somebody finds the way back. It is like finding a secret that a world society is trying to keep away from us. All this is cool.
Besides all this, most of the time is fun.
Drugs have changed the way I see my existence, for better. Now, drugs are a passion for me. But not being high the whole time, but thinking, getting information and exploring these new dimensions I was not aware of them before doing drugs. There is more than the evident, and drugs have shown it to me.

are cool. maybe to me it's because ddrug users don't
care anything about anything except for the way they

For me, drugs are cool like music is cool. They open my mind, rock my world, make my mind race to the outer reaches of my imagination.
Of course, drugs and music together are REALLY COOL:)

drugs are just as cool as you let them be. cool is a relative term meaning it is what you make or let it to be. insecurity makes people do "bad" things to make them feel "cool".
