Does anyone think Klonopin are stronger than xanax or ativan? I am trying to find the perfect benzo to help me with my anxiety/panic attacks. I have tried xanax numerous times but it makes me irritable and my girl flips out on me so I dont use it anymore.

Hi There, Well Here goes. Clonazepam (Klonopin) is not stronger per say in fact xanax and ativan are stronger in that they are far more sedating then Clon. That said you are looking for anti anxiety. In my experience Clonazepam is way less sedating, allowing you to go about your day Without feeling like a zombie. But it actualy reduces myanxiety better than anything else.I feel Like me, just without theanxiety and in a better mood.(Please remember thateveryone reacts different to medication)

But talk to your md, to see what he she thinks.

Hope this helped a little

My experience with Klonopin is that it is a pretty good anti-anxiety
med and is very long acting. It thus avoids the rebound effects of the
short acting benzos like atavan and xanax which wear off so quick that
you wish you had more right away! (which is great for the pharmaceutical
industry). Also Klonopin is good for tapering off of these kinds of drugs
for the same reason (long acting). There is nothing worse then waking up
in the morning and feeling that rush of panic that demands more xanax!
Klonopin is like: Jeez, did I take my meds today? I'll wait a while and see.

Thanks for your input. I seem to have a hard time asking my MD for benzo's. Xanax (1mg) sedates me a little, but not to the point where I am ready to fall asleep.

I'll mention to the doc that I read Klonopins may be less tranquil. Maybe he will hook me up.

My Dr. said klonopins and xanax are like coke and pepsi, so pretty much wut im sayin is the differences are pretty much in your head.

1mg of xanax is equivalent to 1mg of klonopin.

however, klonopin are longer acting (longer half life)

xanax kick in fast and don't last long (short half life)

SWIM prefers klonopins because you can stick them under your tongue and absorb them sublingually. (faster onset)

If Xanax and Klonopin are one to one, then I would prefer Xanax any day!
After a year on Xanax, switching to Klonopin was a real drag! All I can say
for Klonopin is that it relieved any craving for Xanax. Xanax on the other
hand definitely put me in the ZONE every time!

Cheers from the zoneless!

mattp: I agree 100%, xanax does seem to work faster and effects fade within a fedw hours.. where as Klonopin does act alot longer.

Ps, they taste GREAT too!!! I love tasting the wafer as it disolves in your mouth! YuMMM! :)

2mg pills are a bit much though... I ordered a bunch online early this week and within 16 hours Fed Ex was at my door with a perscription! Talk about express delivery! :)

I like klonopin's they last for a while, and they are deffinatly pretty eaasy to get. i find that sometimes i over do it though, i get to taking a few and then a few more and i wind up crazy. its kinda strange if i do to much i can deffinatly feel the chemical building up in my blood to the point where im not making any sense and it gets hard to think or really do anything productive, but its super mellow. i dig the mellow but i dont want to get addicted, i think the potential for addiction is higher with klonopin because of the longer blood half life. so i will do a bunch for a few weeks and when i notice that im not getting anything done i run out on purposes and then not touch the shit for a cupple months. i find that i have crazy dreams on the shit while im noding in and out. sometime i get to the point where i dont really sleep anymore, more so if im drinking alot of coffee, i just nod all night and get out of bed feeling strung out.

It's amazing how all these benzos effect different people differently..

The doc finally forcked up a script for 60 1mg Klonz, taken 2x a day.

The headaches have gone away and so has the TMJ. I like them much more
than valium, and they last much longer than ativan and xanax.

Im Happy again!

Now back to the lab for the week where I will surely find myself
depressed. I hate being alone for days at a time, but it's the ONLY way
to work.

temazepam ???

Can you elaborate on this substance? The klonopin helps me with my nerves, and I find myself much more relaxed, but maybe thats not the best thing at times.. you can easily slip up being to relaxed, so it's something to consider when using any benzo..

Temazepam is roughly half as 'potent' as Valium(Diazepam). Diazepam is roughly 1/8 as potent as Klonopin(Clonazepam).

Simply put, 20mg of Temazepam is roughly equivalent to 0.5mg of Klonopin(Clonazepam).

Equivalency charts are only a rough measure of differing benzodiazepines' 'potency,' as the different compounds can have a different indication profile. IE Klonopin is commonly prescribed for anxiety disorders and as an anticonvulsant, whereas Restoril(Temazepam) is routinely indicated(prescribed)as a hypnotic.

The short half-lifebenzos, mainlyXanax(Alprazolam)in the states, are less prescribed due to their potentially greater abuse/tolerance profile...People like the feeling that Alprazolam gives them.

As far as your having issues with being overly sedated are concerned, you might want to try and take half-doses. After all, the tabs are scored. (Please consult your physician before doing so. Also mention to her/him that you do feel overly sedated) I suspect that in time this feeling will pass. I eat two 1mg Clonazepamto start each day, and feel no sedation whatever. The downside to your body adjusting to the dosage is that it(your brain's GABA receptor sites in particular)is developing tolerance as this occurs.

In common therapeutic dosages this is typically not a serious enough consideration to stop therapy. There is plenty of clinical evidence to support the notion that the anti-anxiety(anxiolytic) properties of benzodiazepines are amongst the last to experience the syndrome oftolerance.

Hope this helps with some of your questions and concerns.

I have been taking some Klonapin to help with some mean opiate Wd's. Xanax and Valium i enjoy more for recreational purpopses. Xanax gives me an almost drunken-dont-give-a-fuck giddiness, while valium makes my line of business much more stress free for longer periods without the dreaded xanax wearing off causing a crabby ass conection. just some input....peace

Swim knows someone who is going to the doctor for an anxiety problem he has been having. SWIM is going to make some suggestions to the doctor as to what he/she should prescribe him. He is thinking about the following benzos, xanax, librium, clonazepam. SWIM says he read something about clonazepam saying it produces euphoria, does anyone have any input on librium (chlorodiazepoxide) sp? or clonazepam? Or doesn anyone have a better suggestion?? Oh and trust me, this has been my doctor for 7 yeard, so whatever I suggest, goes!
Thanks again

It all depends on the person, everyone has a different taste, this counts for benzo's as well. If SWIM is not mistaken Librium(chlordiazepoxide) is generally regarded as much less euforic and much weaker than other benzodiazepines. Xanax(alprazolam) is generally regarded as one of the most euphoric of the easier prescribed benzodiazepines, Rivotril(clonazepam) is considered a bit less euphoric than Xanax by most people, but still high up the scale.

clonazepam can make ppl depressed if such a predisposition exists tho.... seen that shit happen to swim a few times! not pretty!
librium is one swim really would like to try and has read up a bit on it recently, i would suggest (if swiy dr is really that soft) looking up these drugs on wikipedia, research, research, research!!! ;)
