Counterattack in the war on drugs?

Has any of you taken any steps toward getting drugs legalized? How did the Dutch and Swiss legislation become so soft on drugs?



What steps should be taken towards getting rid of the ban on drugs?

What steps should be taken to convince local autorities of the benefits of areas of tolerance?



I live in Costa Rica, not the US, so it should be a bit easier brigging
the legislation around - as long as the US doesn't interfier...

I guess you have to take baby steps. In Australia we almost got a heroin trial started but we had to settle for an injecting room after much campaigning. Gather support at methadone clinics and perform sit ins or try to organise a Mardi Grass which is a hemp smoking festival in NSW. In 2 states in Australia we have pot decriminalised you just have to show the govt. that it is what the majority want write heaps of letters and get others to write letters blaming the govt drug stand for the high crime rate and the only way to stop houses being broken into is to legalise drugs.

Good fucking luck. Here in Canada we had a marijuana decriminalization bill in the making. Our Justice minister meets with some American official (I forget who), and bam, the next day the amount of weed you can have is halved and jailtime for trafficking and growing is doubled. And the bill still hasn't seen the light of parliament.

Anyway, letters to politicians are always good, especially if there's lots of them.

the US actually has a lot of influence over other countries drug
control issues...unfortunately! And they have America
"brainwashed" into believing that most if not all crime is the result
of drugs or drug abuse---even legal, or doctor prescribed medication!

I agree with accountphil---let your voice be heard
and your concerns be known, and tell all your friends who agree with
you to complain loudly also. If we just bitch to each other, what
does that do? We know we don't like the present situation.
But if we speak up---to the one's who actually have the power to change
things......it's a place to start anyway

living in america myself am very curious as to what its like actually living in a "free" country. we have so many laws. i dont even know why its called the land of the free anymore. we dont even want people to emigrate to this country. what ever hapened to "give me your poor, your weak, and so on..." nwo we are kicking people out.


this country is full of illegal aliens. and thats our damn problem. if we'd be mroe accepting, and let people into the country, we'd know who was who, and have better records. i dunno, it has nothing to do with drugs now, but damn it, im sick of america being a prison.

I think there are several ways to counteract:

<LI>Uniting a group of people with the same interests to organise target specific information spread to key figures, like government officials. This way you can get into the way of new laws & bans or get support for new laws. Such a group can also influence the media, which has effect on public opinion. Such a group should be free from illegal activities. This is a very effective way if done right.
<LI>Promoting safe and responsible use & providing information, like done here.
<LI>Making the more safer psychoactives, their precursors (like seeds and / or reagents) widely available. </LI>[/list]

Seriously it issn't going to be done anytime soon. I mean not even after all this time is weed legal in the netherlands. After all the facts around it (like more users in england then in the netherlands and stuff like that). There is no way drugs are just going legal like that. What would u want to do millions of people protest against all sorts of things and govournments really don't care. Drugs are only going the wrong way. Things like joetaco said are happening everywhere. The only thing that is happenin are things like drug tests. I havea feeling that it is simply going to be a lot stricter when ur talking drugs and that legalisation of even a soft drug that issnt as lethal as either alcohol or tobacco is going to happen any time soon.

I've been reading SunTzu, playing chess, and studying 20th century

a few ideas.

Politics, economics and religion are the three most powerfull weapons.





The drug war is not going to be won by protesting, or shooting bullets.
Victory will come if we master the enemy's weapons. Politics and economics. To master such weapons will take time and dedication.



You must use those weapons to control the masses, if you control the masses, you control everything.



You must fight from inside, conquer your enemy by weakining his
strenghts. Turning his arguments into your arguments. Turning his
streghts into your streghts.



You don't destroy your enemies fortress, you make it your own.

So this is how I'm going to counter attack.</span>



I'm not planning on fighting from outside the goverment, by protesting
in the streets... That's a waste of time. It hasn't worked in the last
25 years, is not going to work in the next 25 years.Too passive.



I'm planning on fighting from inside, by using politics... is a much
more aggressive approach to the issue. I'm not going to take this fight
on by myself, but rather as a member of a political party, one who also
agrees with many of my points of view... in the economical, and
political spectrum. One that fights for freedom, and I will fight until
I get to the top of that party. I will lead, I will not follow.



I will not compromise my ideals. They are non negotiable.

Gday accountphil, which states in Australia have decriminalised
marijuana? I know that in South Australia you can have something like 2
plants per houshold, but where else? and do you have any referencesi
could read?
