QAM has multiple facilities throughout WI that offer methadone maintenace services to IDUs and opioid addicts of one year or more, and also offer methadone detox/tapers for those who have been using smaller amounts over a short time period. They require an initial consultation, in which you pay a fee and give your medical and addiction history and talk with a counselor, as well as a general exam by a doctor, and are generally able to start dosing within 1-2 weeks of acceptance in the program. They generally start with 20-40mg and go up by 5mg at a time until patient is stabilized, measured both by subjective experience and blood tests. They require urine drug screening generally once a month as well. They have several nurses, counselors, and physicians on staff and assign you to a counselor/case manager with whom you meet once a month or more if needed, to discuss progress. You start out going every day but Sunday (Mon-Sat) but if you stay sober you are able to advance to different "phases" and get take-home doses so you don't have to go as often. My friend highly recommends Dr. Spiegal, one of the physicians practicing at QAM, for his high level of knowledge of addiction issues and his compassionate attitude towards the patient. Also, their fees are slightly cheaper than many other clinics in the midwest area as they allow patients to pay weekly rather than daily and get a substantial discount for doing so ($87/week rather than $16/day= $112, cash only), and they accept private payments or Medicare/Medicaid, but one can also request the paperwork to submit claims to a private insurance company and can often receive a portion of the fees reimbursement as a refund check through one's insurance policy.
