Lorazepam (Ativan), is a very weak Benzodiazepine. There is really no relationship between ativan and heroin, but benzos and opiates are well known to be very addictive. Heres some good links if you want to learn a little about benzos and ativan.

Thanks for the links, they were very good. I still cannot find if there is a plant root, it looks as though they are manmade to me. i am just a lay person, so correct me if I am wrong. And are there any over the counter meds that contain benzos?
thanks again.

Benzodiazepines are synthetic IIRC... there is no plant alkaloid. There are no OTC sources for benzos, however they are easy as shit to get scripted.

No otc's will contain benzo's. Valium(diazepam) is based on valerian (valeriana officinalis) which is traditionally used for insomnia and other nervous disorders. Valerian is available both as dried plant and in preparation from most health food shops. In high doses it has a paradoxical effect, similar to benzo's, and can produce some nasty nightmares, so go easy on it. Oh yeah, and the dried plant when boiled smells like manky feet, and tastes not much better - use honey to mask it.
Oh my God, thank you so-o-o-o very much. So if a person drinks tea of valerian leaf or eats"something" with valerian in itwill he test positive for benzodiapine?? Crucial stuff here.

ativan and heroin are not related in any way what so ever. One is a nerve pill used to treat anxiety disorders. the other is a narcotic pain reliver initialy made to help get people off morphine. nothing like giving people something more addictive to cure an addiction.

Oh my God! Apologies, hangs head in shame, and mumbles 'Shit!' repeatedly!Just done some checking, and found that valium and valerian aren't related at all - I got complacent with my homework, and believed an old wive's tale for far too long without checking it's validity! Bugger!
Thanks for the wake-up call SOT, and apologies for the misinfo, especially to Glennie!

Haha, that really worried me! Its good when people share what they know, even if they are not sure. I try to do my best to catch these kinds of errors. I would rather people share info and get some stuff wrong than people not share any info at all.
Isn't that called brainstorming? That's how things get straightened out for real, Oh Wise One!
