This is one of the best books I have read lately. It's an entertaining read, not terribly scientific or dry sounding, yet it is well researched and makes logical, well thought out arguments. It takes the reader throughout history, trying to decide exactly when magic mushrooms began to be used recreationally, and dispels many of the rumors started by both scare mongers and lovers of shrooms. It also discusses all of the people who were heavily involved in researching shrooms throughout history, makes mention of the fly agaric cult, and has time to discuss hippie festivals, witches' consumption of henbane, and why Carlos Castaneda probably invented his tale of Don Juan.

This was definitely a quick and entertaining read, and i recommend it to everyone.
