Getting Stoned with Savages: A Trip Through the Islands of Fiji and Vanuatu

This book is the author's travelogue about his trip to the Fiji islands in the pacific.
Now this is more of a chapter review than a book review. If SWIY is interested in Fiji in general, than SWIM has faith that the author wrote a damn fine book, but if SWIY is more interested in Kava, SWIM recommends the chapter pertaining to it particularly.
SWIM skipped to the chapter entitled something like "Chapter __: Where the author tries Kava and likes it... he much much likes it"
He is a funny author and before going into his ceremonious Kava experiences he gives a few details about his past drug use, which included pot and mushrooms, maybe a couple of others. He provides some good and interesting history about the drug and it's preparations and the role it plays in modern Fijian culture. Then he gives two trip reports (the first which lasted over 2 days, because he thought he was tough and took way too much for a first-timer).
In summation, SWIM recommends this chapter and assumes the whole book is a good travelogue if SWIY is interested in the area. But at least pick up the book and read that one chapter in the bookstore, it's worth it (that's what SWIM did).
