I first stumbled upon this obscure film while looking for shpongle music videos on youtube. An interesting cut up version of this movie was added to one of their songs and the 7 minutes I saw inspired me to aptly download the torrent with english Dub.

This movie was made in 1973 and won a prestigious film festival in the day. A fully animated pyschedelic motion picture, the first i believe i have ever seen. The fantasy portrayed in this film compares to know other i have seen. An abstract science fiction set before prehistory, an eloquent outerspace pyschedelic creation myth. The story of humanitys rise in such an abstract manner. I give this movie 5 stars and would recomend most tripsters on the board to check it out.

I wont go into the story line much. but more or less humans are the pets of this interstellar race and the movie chronicles their cognitive evolution. There are alot of parallells and metaphors. Interesting to try to decipher their social context and meaning.

If anyone has seen this already, i'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this film.

As I understand it, the founder of studio Ghibli was very influenced by this (and french animation in general)

I loved that movie. Been a long time since I've seen it though. Actually it is set in the distant future after some sort of post-apocoliptic event, aliens come to earth and take humans back to their planet as pets and by this point there is no recollection of earth and its civilizations due to the pet humans being unable to learn (until that one dude steals the teaching device). Very trippy flick. Thumbs up from the lab monkey.

good to see it in the archive however im fond of the dubbed english version with the original groovy soundtrack. really adds to the oddity of the movie. perhaps i will dig it up and try to load it to the archive.

just for precision's sake, the original french title would be "la planete sauvage", not "le".
