View Full Version : Addicted to amphetamines - need advice or direction
Swim is 31 yrs old and live in london.
She started taking stuff back in 1992, when she got into the rave seen.
it is now 2007 and she thinks she maybe addicted to speed.
Swim has been taking either slimming pills or amphetamine for a few years now, not cos she wants to lose weight, but that would be a bonus, but she can not even get out of bed without it.
Swim should also mention she has been on antidepressants since 1998, due to post natal depression.
Swim am taking around 1oz a week, and she dont know what to do, or where to turn for help and advice. She cannot afford private help, so what do she do????
if anyone has some advice for swim i would be greatful.
thanks :o
Is SWIY getting to the point yet of extreme sleep deprivation, physical weakness/disability, chest pains, obvious nutritional problems or anything like that? If so, perhaps a medical doctor would be a good starting point in terms of advice, as heavy stimulant addictions take a major toll on the body. Maybe if a doctor told SWIY they'd better quit before they die, it would help...

Yeah, stragen post 1oz = 29,something grams, isnīt it?
Depending on the dope it could be for 14g/week something between 3g to
8g or even 14grams, this all still is a lot, nonetheless thereīs no addiction within amphetamines, swim could be a bit out of his/her mind and blown away, just taper down use, if he/she thinks itīs too much, or stop it and donīt make this topic more interesting than it is, thereīs not much more to do, than stopping taper down usage.
Your problems with the motivation or ability doing something could be mentally a part of the depressionl, or maybe the speed has degenerated your adrenal glands of your kidneys 8common in ferwuent prolongued use) to some degree, so some corticosteroids in physiologoical dose might help a lot or some synacthen.
liatoby - Im very glad you posted this as swim's g/f is going through exactly this problem. They have been hammering it constantly for the last 3 years and really want to stop before they do anymore damage to their body and mind. From a weekend of doing say 4-5 grams and not eating they suffer chest pains, very bad come downs on Mon / Tue and can only relax / sleep after a fair amount of weed.
co-incidence - Swiy mentions there is no addiction with amphetamines but they certainly have a big dependency on the drug and bad cravings mostly come the weekend. Swiy mentions 2 drugs that may help corticosteroids and synacthen. Swim will reseach them but does swiy have anymore info on them and how they will actually help and where one might obtain.
As well as the physical damage they are doing to themselves it is seriously affecting their mental state. Any other positive ideas & help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated :)

Cortiscosteroids might alleviate the feeling, of having no energy, felling like rusted (lack of the activity of the adrenal glands after supreessing it with amphetamiens), as well as the to this image related depression might be resolved.. beware of taking more than th 7.5mg prednisone equivalent (cushingoid threshold)!
Synacthen or Tetracosactide will stimulate your adrenal gland that might have suffered dystrophy to grow and produce its hormones again, other peptide drugs like grwoth hormone and IGF and analogues will help to prevent kidney dystrophy, but they wonīt help with any hypothalmic/pituitary lasting suppression (swim hasnīt done any research on the suppressive action of amphetamines on the HPA axis, but he assumes thatīs not that bad as a supression due to prolongued very high dosed corticosteroids or steroid use, per se)
Amphetamines in the gram range is a unsensible high dose for prolongued use, swim thinks this might happen to some time while experimenting and maybe for adaption to th edope. but come on, thatīs too much by any rational means and once you see itīs beginnign to not work like iot did, one should, like you now did, taper it down and consider taking a drug break.
It is possible to not get little to zero tolerance within the use of amphetamines and still have a nice effect off of it, with no harsh sides on body and menatality!
There will have to be a prolonged period of non-use, with all the associated mental horror (depression, anhedonia, lack of energy, carbohydrate cravings). There is no way around this.

There might be a way around it, if you know what you do, but then again, is it worth the money and the hassle, cause all this isnīt to last too long, maybe some days or let it be 2-3 weeks, with a benign coming down...
for swim it was always only days to come down even with the most intense binges of up to 30grams/month.

Whatīs the sort of amphetamine swim is using, whatīs your guess on it?
swim is using what is called base.

Freebase amphetamine, the stage before the finished sulfate, is typically stronger and more pure than amphetamine sulfate. Is it a grey paste and is it harder to cut? Swim could see how there may be a potential for addiction.

Free base is usually cut with a paste, it sublimes quickly at room temperature and loses its potency quickly, even if stored in the fridge.. one can usually see the vapours of fresh amphetamine base sublime.
