SWIM has noticed there's only a marginal difference in price between 0.5mg generic Alprazolam and 1mg but still enjoys the mild anti-anxiety effects that the occasional 0.5mg provides them with.

SWIM obviously knows that the 2mg Xanax bars are OK and even intended to be split into 4 x 0.5mg doses and just wondered if generic Alprazolam tablets followed this same rule? IE clean splitting a 1mg Alprazolam would create 2 even 0.5mg doses? As I'm sure SWIM read somewhere this rule is not the same for all medications due to how the drug is contained in the tablet.

Any SWIY's OK to 'OK' this?

Should be fine - splitting tablets, especially benzo's is common practice in clinical settings (lorazepam for example is sometimes prescribed at 0.5mg - the lowest dose tablet is 1mg). Basically, if a tablet is scored it is designed to be split.

Just be careful when splitting because sometimes in such small pills swim breaks them uncleanly and loses a bit of it into powder. It happens to him all the time when he wants to take 2.5mg of valium.

SWIG now appreciates the extra deep scoring of 1mg Xanax tabs, how kind of them.
