SWIM took a full 2mg Z-bar about two hours ago, this is only the second time he has taken this much, most of the time it’s a 1mg dose. SWIM is the type of person who is always wound up and has trouble relaxing and falling asleep. The calmness swim gets from this drug is amazing. Right now SWIM is his room, its dark, candles are lit and he is playing some Aphex Twin and he could not be more content. All SWIMs worries about this upcoming week have disappeared; SWIM can’t even make himself think an anxious thought and he knows he is going to have an amazing sleep and wake up feeling great tomorrow. Which is a godsend because some nights it takes SWIM two hours or more to fall asleep and he wakes up the next morning feeling like a zombie. SWIM am going to continue to enjoy this before he succumbs to the best sleep of his life, have a few beers (yes SWIM is well aware of the risks), and maybe make a few phone calls that SWIM knows he might regret tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

I certainly hope SWIM doesn't have a steady supply of these. The withdrawl from Xanax, once addicted, is a nightmare.
Maybe SWIM would consider some Yoga, meditation, breathing exercises?

No SWIM does not, they are very hard for SWIM to get, in fact the one taken last night was the last of SWIM’s supply. This was from a supply of 12 2mg bars that SWIM got in the beginning of July and they lasted until the end of January. So SWIM likes to think of himself as having good self control, but also sees and understands the great addiction potential.
Swim's mom has sleeping trouble related to anxiety and used to be prescribed benzos, now she takes melatonin daily and sleeps just as well without the side effects.
SWIMs withdrawals from a valium and roofie habit were like being plugged into a wall socket for about 3 months. SWIM has never experienced a more painful (literally) withdrawal. SWIM kicked heroin first before kicking benzos, and the withdrawal from narcotics was easy in comparison. SWIM knows of someone who simply cannot be withdrawn off of clonazepam without suffering from dangerously high blood pressure as well as the whole wall socket thing. SWIM mostly stays away from benzos now for fear of becoming dependent on them again. It is a good feeling, though...

Yes, a couple of years ago, SWIdr's brother-in-law was prescribed xanax .5 mgs 2 times a day for PTSD. Over the course of a couple months of daily use his tolerance went up dramatically and he became extremely dependent on them. A year later he was taking at least 6 mgs a day, and became a different person so much so that we held somewhat of an intervention for him. He agreed and decided to quit cold turkey (without even asking his doc) and went totally insane. A day later he had a seizure and thats when we found out what a stupid mistake we made making him quit like that. Benzos are an extremely addictive drug, and quiting can be as hard if not harder than opiates.
SWIM hasn't done Xanax for some time. Heh has done it only a few times anyway.. Today, SWIM took 2mg. I'll tell you what happened if SWIM will call me tomorrow..
Sry for double post but last information says that the subject fell asleep about an hour after consuming Xanax. Not because he/she had been knocked out by the drug but he/she had thought that it's smart to wait for the drug to kick in on the bed. Unfortunately SWIM just woke up in the morning, feeling a little funny and having a little trouble with standing/walking straight. So that was 2nd or 3rd time for him to try Xanax and still SWIM hasn't had any rememberable experiences with it.. too bad..
Hmm... swim's last experience with Xanex was quite memorable, to say the least. She had more than a few beers before taking. After it kicked in her memories are segmented but basically, she recalls having sex in at least four different places in a hostel in Tokyo (roof, top of the stairs, bathroom, shower...) with at least one person?? Needless to say, swim's being a little more cautious next time she takes it.

This is an old story do not repeat, SWIM was 17 when this happened, many a moons ago
First time sWIM ever took Xanex, SWIM had a really funny story about. SWIM was over at SWIM's buddy's place and he asked sWIM if he wanted some xanex. SWIM said hellz yeah, what do they do. He said they fuck you up. sWIM said ok. If SWIM take two (bars) will SWIM be good. He was like yeah. SWIM said ok, down the hatch. SWIM drank a beer or two or rolling rock, and he was like SWIM shouldn't drink too much beer.
Well needless to say after about a 30 minutes SWIM had to go (about a 30 minute drive) to meet sWIM's boys. SWIM wasn't feeling anything yet, so SWIM said SWIM should be fine. Well needless to say, SWIm's boy should of stopped SWIM, or not have advised SWIM take two bars, because SWIM blacked out behind the wheel about 15 minutes into the trip. SWIM had a sobering quality about his genious mind so somehow SWIM still made it to his destination but not before SWIM had rode his tan minivan clear across a highway guard rail (one of those Dodge Caravans, the car ended getting smoked by a deer but that is a different story involving marijuana, the movies and a crazy fucking deer that love 55 mph highways. (SWIM was 17 at the time and driving SWIM's parents minivanhttp://www.kssforums.com/images/emoticons/big_grin.gif).
This part SWIM don't remember, but SWIM's boys said he fell out of the car at the diner SWIM was supposed to meet them at, and started crawling towards them. They picked SWIM up and took SWIM to a party (Great). Apparently sWIM played beer pong all night (Great). A girl that SWIM had known for a long time came up to SWIM and said HI! So SWIM looks at her with the most SWIM just took 2 bars drank 4 beers and this is SWIm's first time on Xanex fucked. So Beer Pong Broke out and for some reason Xanex puts some sort of Irish man confidence like you are completely fine, just blacking out here and there, small clips, Yeah SWIM is cool, except that sWIM has to the the beer pong story here say. The next thing SWIM remembered after driving was waking up in SWIM's bed (the scariest thing in the world). SWIM walked downstairs and the car isn't there. SWIM's dad is sitting at the breakfast table and what does he ask, the one question SWIM has no answer to, Hey Where is the car? SWIM said Dad SWIM left the car at a diner so SWIM wouldn't have to drive drunk (LIe #1). He was like Ok. So SWIM calls his ex girlfriend to come pick SWIM up and take SWIM back to the diner where SWIM thought his car was. Needless to say it wasn't there.
So SWIM called all SWIM's friends who are still passed out because of all the partying the wangstas did the night before, and none of them seem to know. They tell SWIM to go to sWIM's buddy's work and ask him where the car is. He works at a public pool, so sWIM had to go to the pool and get him down off the lifeguard stand and ask him, where is sWIM's car (at this point SWIM is cursing at a public pool, still annihlated). He tells SWIM they moved it to a park and go so SWIM wouldn't get ticketed. So SWIM went home and asked his Dad to give him a ride to his car because SWIM's ex had had enough (Remember SWIM don't remember that SWIM got in an accident so it would of been better if SWIM's ex could of gotten SWIM to the car). So SWIM and his dad are on their way to pick up SWIM's automobile thinking SWIM got away with blacking out for a good 12 -14 hours. Well SWIY's arrive at the park and go and he sees the line on the car from the guard rail that SWIM had hit while blacked out, and what was priceless was seeing his surprised face, and SWIM's surprised face at the same time!!! He gos were you drinking. SWIM said no. He opens up the sliding door and a full case of beer falls out. Ohhhhh. He ended up helping SWIM get the guard rail powder off the van, and making the scratches look as good as possible, but the point is SWIM should of died that night. Crazy story huh?

SWIM used benzos for many years, on and off, but for some strange reason never had any withdrawal problems. He also used a lot of opiates, like heroin, morphine, metadone and opium. Large doses over long periods of time, but when quitting he never had any physical withdrawal problems like so many other people tell about. He did many other drugs too regularly, but benzos and opiates were his main daily ones. The only time he remembers being close to what he guess was a withdrawal was one morning he woke up after around 3 days of not taking any benzos or opiates when he had been on both for a very long time in very high doses - he woke up and his heart was beating and he had panic and thought he would have a heart attack because he had read that such things can happen on benzo/opiate withdrawals. He got his mother to call the doc whom prescribed him some nitrazepam to calm down on which helped a lot.
Usually though he does taper down slowly before stopping if he wants a break, and tries to cycle around on similar types of drugs to not have any withdrawals. F.ex he may use benzos some days, then opiates some days, tehn alcohol, then lower dosages, maybe take benzo one day, opiate the other day, benzo again, maybe alcohol two days, lower dosage again and so on until he starts skipping days where he do not take anything so he'll have one day with benzo, one day nothing, one day opiate, one day alcohol, one day nothing etc until eventually he's cut all the way down to only "nothing" days.
But even on abrupt stops in administration (such as going to jail f.ex) SWIM have not experienced major withdrawals, only minor ones such as some trouble sleeping, slight body twitches, some anxiety/anger/frustation (which mostly was due to beeing locked up alone not being allowed to be in contact with other inmates of family etc for a month)
SWIM has used benzos and opiates for the last 6-7 years now on a more or less regular basis with some "vacations" now and then (sometimes such time off's can extent to months of no use, though usually he drinks alcohol in these times as a sort of replacement but nothing stronger than beer. But he has had couple months now and then not using anything, where he finds good comfort and substitute in other activities like meditiation, going out in the nature, working out and various spiritual practices). He is hoping to move more towards that last mentioned months of non-use, and is slowly tampering down on his benzos though they are pretty good as you know =)

When comparing xanax (alprazolam) and valium (diazepam) mg to mg, xanax is stronger. Xanax also kicks in quicker and does not stay in the bloodstream nearly as long.

Wow, quite surprised that no one has mentioned this out right yet. If you take a (relatively) large dose of anything which might even remotely result in you sleeping, you should not have fires burning (ie, candles)
ESP with alcohol in the mix!
And if you're trying something for the first time, as a general rule: COME HERE -- there's plenty of information freely available on your substance of experiment. Swim's first rule: Know, really know what you're putting inside you before you put it in. Spend an hour researching it. What have you got to lose? Your body will be grateful :-)

Tammymarie:
I get both xanax (alprazolam) and valium (diazepam) prescribed myself.
Personally I find xanax good for sleep, knocks me out pretty nicely and I usually sleep like a baby. That's pretty much all I use it for as I find it getting me quite drowsy. Valium on the other hand I mainly use as a muscle relaxant and for that purpose it is way superior than xanax as xanax to not have the same muscle relaxant properties.
So how "strong" a benzodiazepine is do not play the most important role, but what you use it for. For example, flunitrazepam is very good for sleep disorders but not something you'd take in daytime against for example anxiety, then valium would be a better choice. Lorazepam is also good for sleep, and bromazepam good for daytime anxiety etc. Bromazepam is also fairly good muscle relaxant and I find it's effect pretty similar to that of diazepam.
