WHat is the best starting dosage for recreational use ?
I took 2 0.5 ones yesterday and did nothing to me, just felt a bit sleepy, but nothing else.
And how long does it takes before it kicks in ?

Honestly i think there is no recreational use using benzo's, it's sneaky stuff, you get easy addicted to it. The only thing i can think about is, useit after speed, xtc, coke, to fell easier in sleep. Advice stay away from benzo's, i've seen loads of people going wrong with this.
Yesterday i took 2 mg and i only got a bit sleepy after an hour.
But i'm taking tranxene for about a month, ( 15 mg tranxene = +- 11 mg diazepam), so maybe i've to take more xanax.
Any advice ?

I totally agree with smartbee. Benzos should be used for coming down off stimulants. Addiction with subsequent rebound anxiety and sleeplessness can also be a problem when you abuse Benzos

To get a good buzz from xanax you might wanna drink with it. I'd take a few mg's and drink some alchohol. Hope this helps

I have a question about this too - although not really a question per se... Anyway, I get xanax as a prescription, and when I started taking it for panic attacks it was a godsend. Now, however, I probably don't need it so badly - nor as much - but I can't sleep if I don't take at least 3mg (even if I drink it takes that much). I don't take it during the day at all, just to pass out for the night. I've been on a thousand sleeping pills, none of which worked this well, because on the xani I wake up feeling awake instead of groggy. So I guess my question is a) how much of a built-up tolerance is it, since I'm only taking it once a day and b) any alternative reccomendations for sleeping well and waking up feeling alert?

I try to only take xanax now for coming down. It works perfectly with none of the jitters, insonmia, etc. I try to take 2 mg after I take the last hit of cola and start to feel the 'heat'. I thinik it takes about an hour to get fully into your system- that's just my estimate though.

Taking 3mg Xanax of any consistent duration is going to lead to tolerance and dependence. You should try to switch to Ambien for sleeping, say 5-10mgs. I need to know how long you have been on Xanax and at what dose because you may need to taper down with some xanax as well-so as not to have rebound panic attacks.

definetely drink a little alcohol with the zanex, and bump them if you want but thats bad news and supposidly doesnt work bumping it, just causes it to drip down your throat.

Tolerance to xanax builds very quick. 3 mg every nite will build a tolerance in no time. I detox every 4 months or so, just to lower my tolerance, because I have to take it daily also. When I get up to 4mg for it to have the desired results, that is when I go off them for about a month.</font>
Scored some Xanax this week. Last night I popped my Benzo virginity.
Took one 0.5 mg pill and waited. After 10-15 mins I felt a slight
co-ordination mismatch, a tiny wooziness. But not the euphoria or
relaxation I had expected. After half an hour I took 0.5 mg more. Felt
a more pronounced effect of the pills now, but just a general mellowing
out, slight drunken feeling.
Had no alcohol at all.
Slept deep and was pretty slow waking up today.
Had two 0.5 mg pills this afternoon. Again felt very close to nothing.
Just a slight slowing of movement and co-ordination. Ever so slight.
So is this me (being an old alcoholic & codein & ching user),
or the dosages. From reading the posts on this site, the real
interesting stuff starts happening between 1.5 - 3.0 mg Xanax??
Any input much appreciated.

you are not taking enough at all, man. you are taking the normal dosage for anxiety, not for recreation. eat six of the pills, that is only 3mg. make sure you don;'t eat more. it's gonna fuck you up, and eat them on an empty stopmach, so if you ate wait 4 hrs and if a big meal wait 6-8 hours. if you have a few beers, drink them on top of the xanies, or some rum and coke, but not too much alcohol.
i would be surprised if you didn;t come back later and tell a very funny story.
you could go up to 4mgbut since you haven;t used much it may be too much and put you to sleep
i would say 2-3mg would be a good dose as well, I would suggest a drink or two with it. there is no need to go overboard. the first time SWIM did xanax he had 4mg and didnt remember one damn thing...... sooooo pretty much i second whats above!

Before they put my lights out with morfine (?) for my wisdom teeth extraction (all 4), they gave me a Xanax, even though I told them I was calm and wouldn't need it. I took it anyway. After half an hour (empty stomach) it turned me very stupid and giggly. Not something I would take for fun.
Alrighty, tonight I'm on...3-4 mg Xanax...kinda lost count.
No alcohol. And I'm starting to see the benefits of these little pink
mofos. Next time I'll try those aforementioned two beers to wash 'em
down with. For luck and general empirical research, needless to say :)

First time I took 1mg with very mild effects. Slight drunken feeling, not much of anything. I weigh 115lbs. Next day thought I could handle 3mg, took em, waited for them to kick in, next thing I know i wake up in my bed the next morning. I was told I was walking around the house like a zombie with doritos falling out of my mouth then went to pass out. Week later tried 2mg, very sluggish, drunken feeling, heavy eyes, uncoordinated, slight amnesia,(had dinner with my whole family and dont remember a thing hahahah) then I passed out. But I wasnt zombie like, so I was told. In my opinion I dont find xanax very enjoyable. Seems all it does to me is basically make me tired, and at higher dosages, gives me amnesia which I hate very much. Rather stick to opiates...

SWIM has just recently been subscribed to Xanax .25 pills. He doesn't know how much should be taken for a good feeling (by not taking the normal ammount). He is aware the xanax is an highly addictive benzo. He is about 5' 10' and weighs 135 llbs and is pritty tolerant with pills. SWIM would really like to know because he understands 8 is equal to a xanax bar
well has SWIY taken any benzodiazepines lately? Just because SWIY has a high tolerance for pills doesn't mean he has a high tolerance to benzos. Anyways a normal receational dose (for someone with NO tolerance) ould be probebly around 1-1.5mgs.

Well in SWIMs first experience with Xanax, he ate 5(Five) .25mg Round White Alprazolam tablets. No tolerance whatsoever. 5 Was a few too many. All he did was eat them, feel a little goofy, then lay on the couch and slept the rest of the night.
For a first time recreational buzz I'd recommend 2-3 .25mg tablets, and just feel the buzz out. If you think you can handle more, thats your choice. Be careful though, Xanax has a weird way of hitting you all at one time, and its put SWIM down for the night many times.

Well SWIM had 4 .25 pills for the first time but felt like he didn't feel much of the effects but after the pills he had done some coke which might of messed up the effects? He will just try taking 4 pills again with out the coke. He does not have much tolerance to benzos actullay also. For the past 2 days SWIM has taken 2 xanax's in the morning with a very normal feeling.

About how much mg does it take for SWIY to get a nice high? SWIM took a bar yesterday and passed out immediately for about 8 hours, wasting his $ completely. But tomorrow he is getting about 4 .5mg Xanax pills at school, so it will be the equivalent of a bar. Hopefully he won't pass out at school.
Also, what are the other names for 'blues'? Or Roxies. SWIM got Roxies which are blue's, and you can also get reds. But what are the other street names for blues/Roxies? SWIM wants to find dealers for some blues, but SWIM don't know what else to call them. Basically, what are roxies? SWIM snorted one, and smoked one.

...hmm swim always said bars and or just xanax...if ppl dont have bars, they know what are talking about and can refer u to their lower mg supply.
swim would suggest taking merely 0.5 mg and waiting 20 mins and seeing how he feels...xanax is rather fast acting, so u dont have to wait an assload of time b4 redosing to make sure its not still getting into your body/brain.
Maybe rather than taking the 2mg at once...space it out over a few hours. save swiy's pills and $!

SWIM gets the Xanax and Vicoden for free. So 4 .5mg pills for free tomorrow. SWIM has no reason for saving it either, since mother comes home around 7 and SWIM has to be sober.
Does nobody know what else roxies/blues are called?! Are they Xanax? What are they...

blues...hmm...there are blue 1mg xanax...but they are usually referred to as footballs; prolly could find this elsewhere tho...just would take a bit of time...are some urban dictionaries/drug slang dictionaries out there, just gotta go find em.

1mg Xanax are called footballs and blues, SWIM knows that. But the blue's SWIM gets don't really look like Xanax... Probably just colliding street names. Thats why SWIM asks.

10mg is a lot, this usually happens after one is already under the influence and keeps taking more...swim knows this all too well.
about the pills...rxlist.com has a search you can do using the imprint code on w/e pill. swim has used this many a time.

SWIM would recommend starting low and building up until SWIY finds a good dose. Careful, too much will cause a serious blackout.

Very true... SWIM knows a few people who can be fucked up off of 1mg, but SWIM needs at least 4mg to feel anything at all.

Read The Rules. Do not incriminate yourself if you are using a drug for recreational purposes.
Time of onset of benzos depends on a lot of factors i.e. your tolerance, your body chemistry, dosage, method of intake, etc. It'd be easier to tell if you could be more lucid.
SWIM crushes 5mg pills into powder and puts the powder under the tongue for the quickest onset. But from personal experience SWIM thinks that the faster the onset the shorter the high. So when he wants to chill for a longer duration he just swallows the pills empty stomach with some coke. (5mg can be a dangerous dose for first time user)
