Yesterday night SWIM did a (he thinks) succesful CWE on 17 codeine/paracetamol pills (30/500) and stored the liquid in a small bottle. SWIM is unsure as to wether it is convenient to keep the bottle in his room away from the light and at room temp or to put it in the freezer because he plans on indulging on the codeine far from soon because right now there's more important things to do. What do you recommend? Would it be dangerous to freeze it, as research mostly tells to store at room temp, away from light and in an air-tight container, but he doesnt know how much time will pass and this isnt a syrup or a powder anyways, so it must be a little more fragile structurally speaking. How can SWIM suck up the air from this little bottle (if this is necessary)? Thanks in advance.

swiy probably wont need to suck up the air, but an airtight container away from light is the way to go. some members mention a rust color appearing 2-3 days after extraction, but they had also used naphtha so this may be why. freezing should not change anything structurally, and may be the most preferable to preserve the end product. just make sure its airtight, swim doesnt think freezerburn would be good for it. and maybe thaw a day or so in the fridge prior to using, since extreme heat WILL damage the codeine.

Codeine-based cough syrup is liquid, and it keeps a long time. Maybe toss in a little ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) as an anti-oxidant/preservative.

the vitamin c could also help with the generally nasty taste many lab rats report when drinking down the product of a CWE. excellent advice as always, Nagog!

I have been told:
codeine w/asprin -> Refrigerate or freeze
codeine w/ibuprofin -> Refrigerate or freeze
codeine w/paracetamol will eventually turn brown unless you freeze it. Freezing does not hurt

Swit tried storing it (extracted from APAP) in a closed container away from light, but found that it turned pink after about 3 days. Still worked a treat though.
Swit also tried storing it in the fridge and he didn't notice any colour change. This was only for 3 days however, as he has poor self control and simply cannot have codeine in his fridge for too long before he gives in and downs it all.
Swim imagines that freezing it would be the best way to preserve it, though he has never tries. No reason to suspect that low temperatures would destroy it. He'd like to know if this works.

I have been told a CWE on codeine/paracetamol pills is still not discolored and works fine after being frozen 3-months. Referergerated that long it turned brown.
