SWIM: Nubain Addiction and coming off
SWIM had to go to the hospital monday night .... Swim tryed tapering off nubain was taking about 40 ius ed 8-10x a day in the vein ... swim successfully tapered the dosage down to 15iu in the vein about 6-8 times a day ... this monday swim tryed 30iu Inter muscluar and then didnt get any effect ... so swim took another 15iu in the vein and then didnt feel good ...
at the hospital they told swim they were going through opitate withdrawls ... and to stop taking nubain ... swim stopped for about 2 days clean then swim has taken 10ius Intermusclar the last few days about 2x a day ... today swim only took 9ius Intermusclar .... and swim is going to try there best not to touch it anymore ... swim is looking for some pointers .... swim has access to Darvon-N which he isnt sure if he should take one or two a day to help with the withdrawls .... swim still has very bad stomach pains and is very anxious ... swim thinks that maybe since Darvon-N is a opioid agonist ... and longer acting it may help ??? at night swim has been taking 10mg of ambien to help them sleep but still wakes up at night and wake up in the morning with bad urges for nubain ... its been almost 7 days since swim went to the hosipital and swim is curious how long these withdrawls last ???? and will the stomach aches ever go away ???? please let swim know if DarvonN is a good alternative to help them come off nubain ... thanks |

unfortunately, the only way to make withdrawals stop entirely is to let them run their course without opiates. no idea how long nubain withdrawals in particular last, but generally for short acting opiates the withdrawal period is 4-7 days, assuming that swiy is not putting any opiates into his/her system. the good news is that they ARE only temporary. the stomach cramps are likely part of the withdrawal, and they will cease after a few days. do not take darvon to help ease withdrawals, these will probably only increase the withdrawal time. HOWEVER swiy may wish to talk to a doctor, and after telling them the situation, ask if it would be better to taper off, since swim has no idea what constitutes a high daily dose of nubain. best of luck, and search the threads for tips on managing an opiate withdrawal.
