Rehab is For quitters

so my parents want me to kick my habit rite? so one night they tell me they want me to go to rehab, i stood up, gave them the finger, and shouted "Rehab is For Quitters!".

Sorry, you have a loser here with me. That response would totally have you in rehab so fast your head would swim. Your parents love you and are concerned. Obviously your behaviour is probably what prompted this from them. Especially with the level of respect you have for them. No wonder we cant get marijuana legal in the states.


How about doing a little growing up, cause we sure dont need any buzz kills around here for the people who do hold it together.Why come here and brag about it? Get a grip.

I just dont wanna quit. i know i can at anytime, and i like it to much. anyway, my parents are cool with me smoking now, dont care. they know its my decision. that happenned like a year ago.

wow how the stupid fall and add nothing but an silly young type who thinks he knows where he stands this was not closed why. ah must be some educational element to the the youngsters who see this thread and go "hmmm i should be happy towards my parents i put them through so much, and maybe i should accept that they love me.." and change the error of there ways. if only life was so simple...

4 years ago SWIM was living in the UK and had to attend a DTTO (drug treatment and testing order) imposed by the local court.

My opinion is people going into rehab for smoking cannabis is ridculous. How many people get involved in crime and prostitution to smoke a joint?

Having said that when SWIM was at this out patient clinic he found the staff very proffesional and he was put on a daily pick up methadone script and also started a diazepam detox.

He had a 'key worker' who did lots of crack work with him, offered advice on how to quit and also many things to do to ease cravings. Simple things such as eating brazil nuts, using lavendar bath oil were very effective.

They also did relaxation sessions with SWIM where he would have aurricular accupuncture and chill out on big bean bags while watching a DVD. SWIM was tested on a regular basis and made significant progress.

This is one part of the UK rules on drug sentancing that I agree with. Getting addicts into treatment and not in prison, where more drugs are available. Sad but true. The sort of people to get these orders are usually prolific shoplifters. People who commit thefts from motor vehicles and other drug related crime.

What are others point of views on this? Are there similar sentancing laws in the US?

I had his attitude when I was 16 my parents wanted me to go to rehab as well. I just got out of a 6 month rehab now that I am 27, it was my second attempt at this particular rehab. Not only do I have to deal with my drug problem(junike in recovery) but I have to remember the disrespect that I gave my loving parents all those years growing up. They just were concerned for their son and didn't want me to turn out like I did
