Adderall Side Effects
SWIM is an 18 year old athlete who began using amphetamines withiin the past year. SWIM had never put anything up his nose in his life before just a few months ago. It started with percs and vics, then led to an array of randomness, (Morphine, Oxycontin, Well-butrin, Ritalin, Focalin, Concerta, Coke once, and K-pins once.)
SWIM is a big time studier and a big time athlete. His season ended before he started using amphetamines. He now goes on binges of a day or two of little or no sleep, followed by a few rest days, then repeating the process. SWIM bumps everything and his nose seems to be getting screwed up. SWIM like the effects because after a workout he can shower up, go to town on some adderall, and stay up all night doing work and research. SWIM has always been known as being real smart but always hating to work. The ultimate academic underachiever. When he takes adderall he just seems to channell his natural ability and write papers and essays all night even when not assigned. Unfortunately, he is noticing some things about his body that are scaring SWIM. He conquered the stomach aches with regular protien shakes during binges, conquered the headaches by staying hydrated, and somewhat made up for the sleep deprivation by sleeping long long periods of time when days not on amphetamines. The biggest thing is.....When he goes to the bathroom, what comes out has started to become reddish in color. SWIM read that too many carrots can do that, which he eats regularly, and is going to stop eating carrotts to see if that is the problem. Could it be that SWIM takes a plethera of vitamins, amino acids, and supplements? SWIM regularly takes a multi-vitamin, Vitamin C, L-Carnitine, L-Glutamine, Designer Whey Protien, Organic Flaxseed oil, Hydroxycut, Amino acid powder, and eats a lot on top of all of these. Is it bad that SWIM is trying to combine the life of a dedicated student, an athelete who demands so much from his body, and a teenager who just loves to experiment and have fun? SWIMs Liver is a source of concern for him. He doesn't drink too regularly, about every friday and saturday nights like a normal teenager. He dips almost a tin a day, and rarely smokes weed when it's around. Does SWIM have a cause to be worried? How much longer until his behavior will start affecting him for the rest of his life. SWIM loves adderall but doesn't want to screw up the other parts of his life too. Is their a way they can co-exist? Or should SWIM man up and choose sides? And what the fuck is up with SWIMs shit being red? Thats bugging SWIM a lot. Any help for SWIM is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Adderall Side Effects
SWIM hates to bump a dead thread, but SWIM does want to know how easily your liver breaks down/handles adderall. SWIM has some reasons to be concerned for his liver (Accutane), but he doesnt drink. SWIM knows alcohol is not nice on the liver, so even though SWIM is in college, he is staying away from it. Plus SWIM likes the stimulating and motivating powers of adderall and feels as though he does worthwhile activities while on it. But all of this aside, is adderall easy on the liver? SWIM knows many things are easily broken and others stress the liver.........so where does adderall fall on the scale? (I searched the boards but noone addressed livers yet..)

Re: Adderall Side Effects
In SWIM's opinion, all stimulants have addictive potential (caffeine has 3/4 or more of the U.S. population hooked solid, at least psychologically).
Good move on the harm reduction, but the key word here is reduction. No diet, nutritional supplement or pharmaceutical substance will eliminate all amphetamine risks. At best, they will prevent or ameliorate *some* of them. Long term use of higher doses follows a relatively predictable and well-traveled path, so SWIM suggests pulling up Google and starting to research (much more enjoyable while high on stimulants, great time to do it). It will take some time to separate the wheat from the chaff, but eventually a fairly clear picture starts to emerge. Depending on amount of sleep deprivation (don't forget it accumulates, so sleeping 16 hours won't really make up for a missed night), typical dosage/dosing frequency and overall length of use, ISHO the risks are significant and will continue increasing as SWIY continues using. If the reddish color doesn't change fast after quitting carrots, SWIY should visit the doctor ASAP and have a stool culture taken & tested. Particularly if it starts coming out pitch black instead of red. Last edited by Nicaine; 04-12-2006 at 06:51.. |
