Wow, I must admit your gal pal is struggling with just being with herself. The pills are just an attempt to numb and to not to be in the moment. My advice is just to ask for the universal life forces that controls this world, the unforeseen energies that loves you and me to begin to show your girlfriend the key to freedom.
To teach her about self acceptance, to not to be ashamed of her life and problems. Remember, when we begin to release the unhappy past is when we begin to face the past, to let go of things and habits that are keeping us locked in the past (this also includes people too).
I know as you both live your life and try to be loving to yourself just begin to sit in the mindset that you don't know the answers and this will begin your transformation. You'll both make it just ask for guidance.
I usually say God teach me of your peace and purity today so that I can be a conduit of your light to all that I cross paths with. This is abit sappy by it will change your life..not immediately but in time.
