Valium particularly can stay in your system for months, particularly if you are a daily/heavy user. Body Fat percentage also affects detection times.

Try this in the drug testing forum:

klonapin for some reason does not always show up on drug tests... i was prescribed klonapin b4 switching to ativan then librium and klonies never showed up... well most of the time, i think most benzos last a good few days but long half life benzos such as librium have a half life of over a day (correct me if im wrong i think its over 30 hours )

I found one site that listed Xanax's elimination half-life as 6-20 hours, and Valium as 20-90 hours (http://www.mja.com.au/public/mentalhealth/articles/norman/norbox2.html).
If you use more frequently or at higher doses, then it's likely to be in your system longer.

the thing about lipid soluable benzos like xanax and valium is that though their half lifes might be 6-20 and 20-90 if u have been taking them for a while it tends to get in ur stored fat similar in a way to how weed traces can be found in ur fat... for piss tests dont be too worried but with a blood test benzo traces might pop up (im not 100% sure just tryin to throw out my 2 cents)
