View Full Version : Adderal tolerance builds fast?
A friend of SWIM's gave him a big bottle of 30mg Amphetamine Salts,
which he's pretty sure is adderal. So SWIM started out getting a
big rush off 30 - 45mg. In less that a week he's eating 90mg and
feeling almost nothing. Is this how fast tolerance builds w/ this
stuff? How long off until tolerance drops a bit?

Ummm. it shouldn't build that fast... You didn't happen to drink
Orange juice or any kind of fruit juice (or even a vitamin), did you?
because vitamin C will make it so you won't absorb any amphetamine
(something to do with the pH of your stomache)...
Tolerance does build fast, unless you take magnesium supplements
(NMDA antagonist), which will slow tolerance build up...
I'm guessing you just took some sort of citrus juice with your
adderall because it wont get absorbed by your body if you do this,
you just piss it out.
Next time, take a tums or rolaids 10 minutes before your dose and
dont drink juice or take a vitamin for at least 2 hours before you

SWIM didn't drink anything but water 90% of the time. Once coffee
and a couple times something with lime juice, which could have killed
absorption.
He'll try taking tums when he gets some more, but he must've eaten 300
mg. throughout yesterday and snorted another 60. Had a little
more energy, but nothing stellar.
At first, 30 - 60 kept him up all night, and that was about 2 weeks ago.

swim develops tolerance really quickly on addy, I try to only take it once every few weeks, that way he gets the most out of it.

swim has had tolerance build in a couple days to adderall, he sees no reason why swiy couldn't go from 45 mg to 90 mg in a few days. in swim's experience tolerance can start building after the first day of use, 15-20 mg the second day won't have as great of an effect. maybe swim just builds tolerance quickly in general, but he can't figure out how this could be prescribed for daily use, since he'd imagine that he'd need to keep upping his dose monthly if not more. swim didn't know about the pH levels affecting absorption, but it makes sense now that he thinks about it. great info to have.

When SWIM's script is first filled, 30mg does wonders. When he abuses them, his tolerence goes up very quickly... not to mention the little addies are having to work twice as hard due to sleep deprivation, and the norepinephrine receptors/producers are running on empty.
When taken as prescribed, this is not a problem. SWIM's brain simply adjusts to the proper balance.
